Davey Arthur returns to the Theatre on the Steps with a sensational show featuring Irish music at its best, together with an exciting mix of Cuban, jazz and Latin influences. Hear him play that famous Irish tenor banjo – sheer magic! Davey’s band includes Steve Layton (guitars), Pete Dunn (acoustic/electric bass) and Davey’s youngest son, Patrick (percussion).

Davey is renowned world-wide as one of Ireland's best-loved and most successful musicians with over 40 compositions to his credit and he has been honoured with a place in the Irish Music Hall of Fame. He still tours with The Fureys and has done so for over 35 years. So in his own shows, by popular demand, he always includes some of those well-known hits such as “The Red Rose Cafe” and “When you were sweet sixteen”.

Davey has a delightful way of making people feel part of the show. He explains the stories behind the songs, invites his audience to sing along with him and also brings in a little touch of humour. As the maestro himself says: “I enjoy playing in the bigger band but it also gives me a buzz to be with my own band when we play more up-tempo songs in smaller gatherings. We are closer to the audience and it’s more intimate.”

Davey even adds a French flair to the evening, with his wonderful rendition of “Paddy in Paris”. Vive la différence!
